Nyana does have its hidden gems, but it might take you a few listens to find them. Nor does it put you on the auditory journey that the first few ISOS albums do.
DJ TIESTO NYANA CD2 SERIES
Overall this release is pretty good, but it doesn’t have the magnetism that the Magik series exudes. I’ll admit that I initially enjoyed the second disc more, but now I take pleasure in both of them for their unique styles. The rest of the second disc is dreamlike, with chill tunes like Nothing and Requiem for a Dream holding down the progressive theme. Beautiful Things, As the Rush Comes, and Never are songs that should be in the vocal trance hall of fame. The second disc is a must listen for fans of vocal trance. The first disc also features Tiesto’s own production Nyana, which is one of my favorite tracks of his. Tracks like Love Angel and Urban Shakedown give the first disc its edgy atmosphere. The first disc is titled Outdoor, and it is contains a heavier techno influence above anything else. Now that I have revisited this album, I can appreciate what Tiesto was aiming to do with this album. When I first heard this album many years ago, I wasn’t too keen on this release, but then again my trance knowledge was fairly limited at that time. Two weeks ago Black Hole Recordings re-released Nyana, an all-out mix compilation put together by DJ Tiesto in 2003.
